     Watched by cloudless skies, frost painted early morning while trees stood still. We did not linger long in this scene wanting to lie down again or return to things that do not require so much breath.

     Glass pie plates heavier as I remove them from the drainer. Sitting, I scoop precise measures three watching wondering “is that for me?” Zayne hooks his chin over my wrist as if asking me to drop a bite within his reach.

He gives strength to the weary

and increases the power of the weak.

Even youths grow tired and weary,

and young men stumble and fall;

but those who hope in the Lord

will renew their strength.

They will soar on wings like eagles;

they will run and not grow weary,

they will walk and not be faint.

Isaiah 40:29-31
