February Fourteen

Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2025, 16*

Looking at the photo no one could tell it is not a warm day after a summer rain. In their various shapes those raindrops are frozen in place. Perhaps Soleil is of a mood to release them. Underfoot snow topped with rain became a paw and boot print sculpture too heavy to sweep away.

We walk on this precarious art awkwardly, sometimes out of balance. Soleil may be of a mood to add her slippery glaze.

Luna, Soleil and Mariah must know their names. The name of ice. The name of fire. Poets should be aware of these titles. Ice cannot exist long in the presence of fire. Ice belongs in a skating rink, not a driveway. It should not lie down on a sidewalk. A chameleon is ice made of life-giving water.

"But whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst.

Indeed, the water I give them will become in them

a spring of water welling up to eternal life."

John 4:14
