Zayne paws the glass trying to open the door. Zsolt limps until his foot is warm. I put on my wedding ring, sip coffee, take it off, put it back in my desk drawer. A hand-made wide silver band its matte finish worn and softened by time; the ring, this ring reflects light with a subtle glow rather than a sharp shine. The blue stone doesn’t sit high on prongs, it nests in, is protected by silver on all sides.

Skies appear pink through the blinds. In reality they may be another color. Is reality what we see or is it a different thing? Perhaps a softness from countless touches, fine scratches, tiny imperfections experienced through time.

"...The Lord does not look at

the things people look at.

People look at the outward appearance,

but the Lord looks at the heart.’"

1 Samuel 16:7
