I Love You
We make plans. I don’t always, but I do have a routine – dogs like to be fed. Sometimes I do things because it’s required and there’s a deadline and I can only wait so long to get things done. Seriousness – I have too much of that. I was a very serious child who grew into a very serious adult. Whimsy is also part of my life – conversations with my dogs, putting words in their mouths and just being silly. This poem is whimsy (written by me years ago) and definitely I need some whimsy today. Enjoy.
RAPSCALLIONS
Let's confabulate
with a quadrumvirate
though you may get addle-
brained with this prattle:
oblivious bumblebees,
conspicuous velocipedes.
Don’t be wishy-washy,
eat your chicory,
cilantro and melarancio,
merengue with muchachos,
never mind the tarantula
or the stained taffeta
vanish the kahuna
with radish and arugula.
