I Love You
Thunder
breaks the silence
the furnace runs
keeping us warm
in the darkness
that is this morn
Rain pounds the metal roof
then calms
Dogs gather round
waiting for a bite
One sleeps Two watch
Coffee, still too hot
Mornings are different now
nothing to hurry through
Just quiet stirred
as dogs and I move
Not all mornings
bring light
Memories that come
seem to be
of someone else’s life
